Youth Transition Summer Workshop

The Youth Transition Summer Workshop is for youth who experience disability, ages 16-24; planning to live independently, and have career or educational goals. Youth who have a 504 plan or an Individual Education Plan are encouraged to apply. This is an overnight event that takes place on a college campus. This year (2024), the workshop will be held at the University of Washington, Seattle. The workshop focuses on preparing for college and/or employment and learning independent living skills. Some skills include self-advocacy, financial management, transportation, and self-care. Guest speakers share services available in the community for future support. This is a great opportunity for youth to get connected, experience living on their own, and meet other youth with disabilities who plan to live independently.

The deadline to apply is May 24, 2024.

Applications are also available in Word Doc and PDF formats. Please contact Karissa (Marysville office) or Anna (Lakewood office) to request an alternate-format application, or with any questions regarding the summer workshop:

Youth Transition Peer Groups

The Youth Transition Peer Groups are for youth ages 14 to 24, who are currently working one-on-one with CFI staff on individual goal plans. The groups meet monthly and are a great way to meet other youth who are working towards similar goals and may experience similar challenges. The groups also focus on developing leadership skills while having fun. Some group activities include bowling, cooking, playing games and getting out in the community. This is a safe place for youth who are experiencing disabilities or have a chronic medical condition to come, relax, make new friends, and be appreciated for who they are. For more information, please contact our Youth Transition Coordinator for each location listed below.
